Dave Regis

Dave carved out a proud footballing career notching up over 200 league games.

EARLY LIFE

Dave Regis was born in Paddington, London and grew up on the Stonebridge Estate in Brent where he attended Newman Catholic College (then known as Hinsley High School).

Dave was often found at parks playing football in and around the parks and Carmel Hall of Brent and had the added advantage of looking up to his brother Cyrille Regis MBE to guide and inspire him into making his way into the game.

Career highlights

He began his playing career in the UK, before leaving for New Zealand and returning to play non-league football with clubs including Dunstable Town (where he made his name playing under Barry Fry), Fisher Athletic, Windsor & Eton and Barnet. Barnet sold him for a fee of £25,000 to Notts County, where he began his professional career at the age of 26 and played a part in winning the Play-Offs in 1991.
He also played professionally for Plymouth Argyle, Bournemouth, Stoke City (two seasons including the 2nd Division championship winning team), Birmingham City, Southend United, Barnsley (where he was a member of the squad promoted to the Premier League, making four appearances that season), Peterborough United, Leyton Orient, Lincoln City and Scunthorpe United, where he finished his professional career in 1998, having made 231 league appearances. He later returned to non-league football with Wivenhoe Town in Essex and Hucknall Town.
Since finishing his playing career, Dave has been a football consultant and youth coach at Notts County and Nottingham Forest’s academies, and been an education and welfare officer at Charlton Athletic’s academy. He has also been a regional manager in the Football League’s youth development department.
